I don't know X3's but some models actually don't have gaskets to replace, but the entire valve cover is replaced when a leak occurs. That would certainly be in line with the price you're getting. Of course, an oil pan gasket is possible. But a proper diagnosis is in order first. That's what a good mechanic does.
